"Why" was one of four Avalon songs that charted in Britain, reaching #20 in January 1960. The biggest hit Avalon had in Britain was "Venus", reaching #16 almost a year earlier (April 1959). In U.S. "Why" was a number one hit the last week of the fifties (december 28, 1959), staying on the top position on Billboard for only one week.
