Formed: 1966, New Jersey, U.S.A.
Basic line-up: Mark Gutkowski, Floyd Marcus, Par Karwan, Steve Mortkowitz, and Frank Jeckell.
In 1966 Frank Jeckell needed a new name for his group and found an old wrapper with the words 1910 Fruitgum on it. They got together with the producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff Katz, who mastered the Bubblegum music at that time.
1910 Frutigum Company had an immediate hit with Simon Says (Number 2 in U.K., Number 4 in U.S. and Number 1 in Sweden). They also reached the charts with songs like '1-2-3 Red Light' and 'Indian Giver'. The group is still giving concerts. (Read more). |
